Why shouldn't you move firewood?

According to Bobs MonOncle, you shouldn't move firewood (along with not planting kudzu, which is what the question asked.) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

I was just wondering...why not move firewood? What does this mean? Bobs can answer as can others.

Why shouldn't you move firewood?
I'm with RScott. It's all about the Emerald Ash Borer right now, especially in the upper Midwest where a serious effort is underway to halt its spread. I live in a rural area that is very touristy in summer and people are just oblivious and ignorant. Campgrounds can seize wood that you've brought in from elsewhere and require you to buy local wood. People get all up-in-arms and act as if their inalienable rights are being violated. It's frustrating, at best. So I guess I'm also with Bob's Mon Oncle! I'm glad you asked though, I can see how it might sound kind of obscure.

P.S. Here's the wiki article, in case any one is interested:

Reply:I do not believe that is bad to move firewood just making extra work for yourself. He might have just been saying planting the plant, which apparently is a weed, is just creating more work for yourself because you will have to try to control the noxious weed which is as pointless as moving firewood.
Reply:He could mean not to chop down trees. Also he may be against burning the wood for the green house effect. But that is silly because no mater what we use to heat with will do that. And firewood in general has no value as timber and trees grow back after you cut them down.

What you should be against is pavement for parking lots etc.
Reply:The reason is bugs and fungus. Firewood that is infected with boring beetles or parasitic fungus can spread this way. Currently it is illegal to do so in states fighting the Emerald Ash Borer. RScott
Reply:He probably means don't transport the wood from the kudzu. It might spread by rooting itself again. Just my too sense.
